REMANUFACTURED FABRICATED WHEELS AVAILABLE FOR OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS

Announcement

Caterpillar Remanufactured Products Group announces the availability of remanufactured "fabricated" wheels for several models of off-highway trucks. Previously, a remanufactured fabricated wheel option was only available for the 789 truck. The term "fabricated" wheel is used to differentiate these wheels from a cast wheel that is now standard in all off-highway trucks larger than the 777. Fabricated wheels combine castings and fabricated assemblies to construct a wheel assembly.

The introduction of these fabricated wheel assemblies will give dealers an additional piece part repair option for final drive wheel groups that require repair of the wheel assemblies.

Features and Benefits

These wheels are remanufactured to incorporate engineering changes which may not have been available for the original wheels (excluding 777). This should result in wheels with a service life equal to or greater than the original wheels (in identical applications). The remanufacturing process includes removal of existing wrapper bands (where required), and the installation of new wrapper bands. The wrapper bands are the cylindrical bands that join the wheel castings. This repair option allows customers to continue to use fabricated wheel groups in applications that don't require an upgrade to cast wheel groups.

Core Attrition Policy

Core returns of fabricated wheel assemblies are NOT administered under the REMAN core attrition policy. This means there are no time limits for the return of the core. Since dealers do pay a core deposit, it is to the dealer's benefit to return cores as soon as possible.

Core Acceptance

Please see Core Acceptance Criteria SELD0211 for complete details on core acceptance. This criterion was recently updated to allow full core credit for cracks in the "wrapper band" and the "wrapper band" weld. Cracks in the castings are still not acceptable for core credit.

Cores should be consolidated with other REMAN parts per SELD0039-04 (Shipping Instructions) and shipped to:
