A New Instruction to Change the Configuration Settings Of Generator Reverse Reactive Power is Now Available On Certain Generator Sets {4490}

Generator Set
C4.4 GEN SET (S/N: LC41-UP; LC51-UP; D4B1-UP; GLD1-UP)
C6.6 GEN SET (S/N: LC61-UP; N6D1-UP)

A new instruction to change the configuration settings of generator reverse reactive power is now available to the Gensets that are listed above. Changing the settings will eliminate the reverse KVAr shutdowns and alarms due to incorrect threshold levels within the EMCP 4.2 control panel configuration file.

Perform any one of the following instructions to change the configuration settings of generator reverse reactive power.

Option 1: Change the threshold set point for Reverse Reactive Power

  1. Connect the EMCP control panel to Cat ET.

  2. From the menu bar select "Service" > "Configuration".

  3. In "Generator Reverse Power", select "Generator Reverse Reactive Power Warning Event percentage".

  4. Change the percentage value to 15%.

  5. In "Generator Reverse Power", select "Generator Reverse Reactive Power Shutdown Event percentage".

  6. Change the percentage value to 20%.

  7. Now the settings are changed as shown in Illustration 6.

Option 2: Deactivate the Reverse Reactive Power Feature

  1. Connect the EMCP control panel to Cat ET.

  2. From the menu bar select "Service" > "Configuration".

  3. In "Event Response Configuration - Generator Protection Event".

  4. Select "Generator Reverse Reactive Power Warning Event Response Configuration".

  5. Change the setting to "Disable Condition".

  6. Select "Generator Reverse Reactive Power Shutdown Event Response Configuration".

  7. Change the setting to "Disable Condition".

  8. Now the settings are changed as shown in Illustration 13.
