Problem
Exhaust balance valves are failing causing increases in engine out soot rates. The increase in soot loaded into the DPF causes more frequent regenerations and loss of high speed regenerations.

Visually inspect the balance valve on the turbocharger to verify that the clevis is attached to the valve linkage as shown in Illustration 2. If damage is discovered to the linkage and clevis, replace the turbocharger.
