Illustration to show locations of wiring connections and mounting. |
Note: Do not remove diode support plate (13). Diode support plate (13) is mounted to the laminations of exciter armature (4) with thread-forming screws. If removed new holes will need to be tapped in the laminations to reinstall the diode support plate (13) to exciter armature (4) .
Note: Orientation of varistor (11) in relation to the key of exciter armature (4) for reassembly.
- Mark orientation of clamps (7). Loosen clamps (7) .
- Mark orientation of wiring (9) to diode assembly studs (10). Disconnect wiring (9) .
- Disconnect diode assembly wiring (6) from diode support (12) .
- Remove screws from diode support (12) .

Note: Inspect exciter rotor (4) inside diameter for damaged laminations that may have occurred during removal. Replace exciter rotor (4) if damage is severe.
Note: To aid in installation, raise the temperature of the exciter rotor (4) and diode support (12) in an oven 110° C (230° F). The diode support (12) must be removed if using an induction heater.
- Orientate diode support (12) so the key of the exciter armature (4) and varistor (11) are in the same relation before removal.
- Apply Tooling (B) to the screws in diode support (12). Install the screws in diode support (12) .
- Connect diode assembly wiring (6) to diode support (12) .
