False 501-06 through 516-06 detonation codes can occur when 112-9273 Detonation Sensors are replaced with 163-4411 Detonation Sensors .
For vee engines, the detonation can occur when all the detonation sensors in at least one cylinder bank are replaced.
For in-line engines, the detonation can occur when all the detonation sensors are replaced.
Note: The problem does not occur if even one 112-9273 Detonation Sensor remains installed in a cylinder bank that also has 163-4411 Detonation Sensors .
The different sensors have slightly different DC output voltage. The different voltages cause some ESS panels to generate the diagnostic codes. Depending on the engine, any combination of 501-06 through 516-06 codes can occur.
To help prevent the false diagnostic codes, install a new 422-6036 Sensor Harness As and two 189-3158 Arc Suppressors per bank of cylinders.

Install two 189-3158 Arc Suppressors into the new 422-6036 Sensor Harness As. Connect the harness between a 163-4411 Detonation Sensor and the engine harness.
The two arc suppressors, installed in a series, dampen the DC output voltage in order to help prevent the false codes.
Only one 422-6036 Sensor Harness As and two 189-3158 Arc Suppressors are needed for an in-line engine.
For vee engines, one 422-6036 Sensor Harness As and two 189-3158 Arc Suppressors are needed per cylinder bank.
