- Remove the aftercooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Remove".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Identify the position of clips (3) before removing the bolts.
Note: Bolts (1) are different lengths.
- Remove bolts (1) and (4).
- Remove bonnet (2).
Note: The bonnet on the opposite end of the aftercooler core is removed by the same procedure.

Illustration 4 g00772044 - Install Tooling (A) and attach a suitable lifting device on housing (9). Remove the bolts. There are four bolts that fasten mounting plate (10) to housing (9). Remove housing (9). The weight of housing (9) is
61 kg (135 lb) . - The housing on the opposite side of the aftercooler core is removed by the same procedure.

- Do not remove bolts (12) from plate (10). Bolts (12) cannot be installed with housing (9) in position.
