Engine Oil Cooler - Remove

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the heat exchanger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exchanger - Remove" for the correct procedure.

  2. Remove the aftercooler and the mounting bracket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Remove" for the correct procedure.

  3. Remove the bracket for the fuel manifold (rail). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Manifold (Rail) - Remove and Install". It is not necessary to remove the fuel manifold (rail).


NOTICE

Ensure that all adjustments and repairs that are carried out to the fuel system are performed by authorised personnel that have the correct training.

Before begining ANY work on the fuel system, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information and High Pressure Fuel Lines" for safety information.

Refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Cleanliness of Fuel System Components" for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

  2. Follow Step 2.a through Step 2.c in order to remove the blanking plate (3). Refer to Illustration 1.

    1. Remove bolts (4).

    2. Remove blanking plate (3).

    3. Remove gasket (5) (not shown).

  3. Remove tube assembly (2) for the fuel return from cylinder head and from transfer pump (1). Plug the tube assembly with new plugs. Cap all open ports with new caps.

  4. If necessary, loosen bolts in Position (X). Remove bolts (7) and remove brackets (6). Remove the assembly of oil cooler (8) from the cylinder block.

    Note: The bolts are different lengths. Note the position of the different bolts. Note the location and the orientation of the bracket for the tube assemblies.

  5. Remove gasket (9) (not shown).

Disassembly Procedure

  1. Remove bolts (10) from the assembly of oil cooler (8).

  2. Remove cooler matrix (13) from spacer plate (11).

  3. Remove gasket (12).
