Turbocharger - Remove

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Plug and cap all open ports and tube assemblies.

  1. The engine can have the ability to auto start. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.

  2. Loosen the band clamps and disconnect the exhaust elbow from the turbocharger.

  3. Loosen the hose clamps and remove the air inlet hose from the turbocharger.

  4. Loosen the hose clamp and release the air outlet hose from the turbocharger.

  5. Remove the blanket from the turbocharger.

  6. Follow Steps 6.a through 6.c in order to remove tube assembly (3) for the oil feed.

    1. Remove bolt (7).

    2. Remove banjo bolt (1) and remove sealing washers (2).

    3. Remove tube assembly (3) from the cylinder block. Remove O-ring seal (5) from the tube assembly.

      Note: Plug the port for the oil feed to the turbocharger with a suitable plug.

  7. Follow Steps 7.a through 7.c in order to remove tube assembly (9) for the oil drain.

    1. Remove bolts (11).

    2. Remove bolts (8) and remove tube assembly (9) from turbocharger (4).

      Note: Plug the port for the tube assembly to the turbocharger with a suitable plug.

    3. Remove gasket (6) and remove gasket (10).

  8. Remove nuts (12) from turbocharger (6) and remove turbocharger (6) from exhaust manifold (13).

  9. Remove gasket (14).

  10. If necessary, remove studs (15) from exhaust manifold (13).
