(1) Flywheel Precharge Resistors

The Flywheel precharge resistors (1) are part of the Flywheel DC bus precharge circuit. The resistors (1) limit the inrush current during precharge.

The precharge circuit allows the system to charge the DC bus only when the system is isolated from the DC bus. The precharge circuit is not used in normal operation.

The Flywheel DC bus precharge circuit contains two resistors. Each resistor (1) is a hollow tube with insulating spacers on both ends. The resistors (1) are connected to the cabinet for the flywheel by a metal rod that extends through the middle of the tube. The rod connects with two nuts to the metal bracket that is attached to the cabinet.
