Caterpillar Hand Controls (Controls) are more multifunctional today, than ever before. These Controls are difficult to find in the Service Information System (SIS) and in the paper document. Because the Controls are multifunctional, it is difficult to select a proper System Residence in Parts Product Structure for SIS and paper documents, when the Service Information is created.

For example, the STIC Control in Wheel Loaders, controls the Transmission and the Steering. However, the Control can only reside in one system. Currently, this Control resides in the Power Train system. This Control reports to a next higher level of the Cab Arrangement, or the Operator Arrangement in the Parts Manual. To help resolve this problem Product Structure is being changed slightly. The Controls that report to a Cab Arrangement or an Operator Arrangement, are being moved to the Operator Station, then locating the multifunctional controls will be much easier to find when a search is performed, within SIS Product Structure.

Controls that move to the Operator Station will continue to retain the same name and Product Structure Links that were previously assigned to the control. For example, Control Group-STIC is currently located in the Power Train System. The same part name will reside in the Operator Station after the move occurs.

The effective date for this change is April 3, 2006. Following is a list of the Controls that are being moved to the Operator Station.
