Description of Change: A seal and a washer have been added to the oil filter assemblies for the above products.

The seal and washer are used to give an improved seal between the stud and the retainer. This will keep oil that has not been through the filter away from oil that has been through the filter.

Adaptable To: The 94089 Washer and the 8M4438 Seal are adaptable to all earlier 7N8417 and 6N8224 Oil Filter Assemblies. Install the new parts as shown in the procedure which follows.

1. With the 5S7128 Case Assembly removed from the filter base, remove the 2J6356 Snap Ring.

2. Remove the 7S6745 Retainer from the stud.

3. Install the 94089 Washer over the stud, on top of the spring. See the illustration.

4. Install the 8M4438 Seal over the stud, on top of the washer.

5. Install the 7S6745 Retainer over the stud, on top of the seal. The flange on the inner diameter of the 7S6745 Retainer must be up.

6. Install the 2J6356 Snap Ring.
