The bearing cups may rotate and cause wear that can result in a bearing failure of the 2S6527 Bearing Assembly in the transfer gear group of certain 657E Scrapers.

Action Required
Follow the procedures in the Service Manual to install the new 6P9056 Gear, 2S6527 Bearing Assembly, and associated parts. If the case needs to be reworked due to fretting, see the attached rework procedure.

Rework Procedure
1. If the case shows sign of fretting, machine the case to clean up the fretting.
2. Fabricate a spacer that is equal to the difference between the dimension shown in Illustration 1 and the depth of the face after the cleanup operation.

3. Coat the case bore with gasket maker during assembly or add a groove for an O-ring in the transfer gear case using the dimensions given in Illustration 2. If an o-ring groove is machined in the case, a 2H3931 O-ring Seal will be needed.
