The 2S6527 Bearing Assembly in the 7G6939 Transfer Gear Group of certain 651E Scrapers needs to be replaced. The existing bearing cups may rotate and cause wear that can result in a bearing failure.

Remove all 6P9056 Gears from parts stock.

Follow the procedures in the Service Manual to install the new 6P9056 Gear, 2S6527 Bearing Assembly, and associated parts. If the case needs to be reworked due to fretting, see the attached rework procedure.

Rework Procedure
1. If the case shows sign of fretting, machine the case to clean up the fretting.
2. Fabricate a spacer that is equal to the difference between the dimension shown in Illustration 1 and the depth of the face after the cleanup operation.

3. Coat the case bore with gasket maker during assembly or add a groove for an O-ring in the transfer gear case using the dimensions given in Illustration 2. A 2H3931 O-ring will be needed.
