1. Install an appropriate lifting device on the upper jaw in order to secure the jaw open.

2. Remove the nuts, the washers, and the flat head screws that secure each two cutting edges (1) to the jaw. Remove the cutting edges and shim packs (2) .

1. Inspect the cutting edges for wear. Radius (R) should not not exceed 5 mm (0.1969 inch). If the wear on the cutting edge exceeds the specification, the cutting edge may be turned to another side.

2. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

3. Install the following items to the jaw: cutting edges (1) , shim packs (2) , the flat head screws, the washers and the nuts.

   Note: Ensure that the screws are properly torqued. The torque on the screws is 530 ± 70 N·m (390 ± 50 lb ft).

4. Check the cutting edges for looseness. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Jaw - Repair".

5. Check the gap between the cutting edges. The gap should not exceed 0.5 mm (0.0197 inch). If the gap exceeds the specification, more shims will need to be added.

6. Remove the lifting device from the upper jaw.
