The track adjuster cylinder support plate may bend or deform on certain E300B and EL300B Excavators. Additional rib plates can be installed to strengthen the track adjuster cylinder support plate.

Parts Disposition
Any parts removed (with the exception of cores used for Caterpillar Remanufactured parts) can be rendered useless and scrapped immediately upon completion of the repair. Rework Procedure NOTE: This procedure contains four seperate rework procedures. They are as follows: 1. E300B - Before failure; Pages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 2. EL300B - Before failure; Pages 1, 2, 7, 8 3. E300B - After failure; Pages 1, 2, 9, 10, 11, 12 4. EL300B - After failure; Pages 1, 2, 13, 14, 15, 16 Inspect the track roller frame as shown below. If the plate is bent the roller frame will be narrower at the welded portion. If the plate is bent more than 5 mm (.20"), follow the steps listed for sarepairing After Failure. Park the excavator on level ground and prepare for servicing. 2. Separate both of the tracks and move them back to clear the roller frames. 3. Remove the center track guard and the forth and fifth rollers from the idler end of the roller frame. 4. Raise the excavator so that the roller frames are approximately 1 m (3.28') off the ground. 5. Weld two additional rib plates to each roller frame as shown on Pages 3- 8. Use E7016 Weld Rod. 6. Clean and paint the plates and welds. 7. Install the rollers and track guards. Connect the tracks and make all necessary checks and adjustments. REPAIR AFTER FAILURE 1. Park the excavator on level ground and prepare for servicing. 2. Separate both of the tracks and move them back to clear the roller frames. 3. Remove the center track guard and the forth and fifth rollers from the idler end of the roller frame. 4. Raise the excavator so that the roller frames are approximately 1 m (3.28') off the ground. 5. Remove the failed support plate and rib plate with a torch. Straighten (reform) the track roller frame. 6. Weld new support plate and rib plate to each roller frame as shown on Pages 9-16. Use E7016 Weld Rod. 7. Clean and paint the plates and welds. 8. Install the rollers and track guards.
