Problem
The bottom cap of the fuel filter housing has come loose on certain machine engines.
Solution
Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility. |

38 mm (1.5 inch) hexagonal socket or a strap wrench.Note: If necessary a second strap wrench can be used to hold tube (B) while removing cap (A).

(C) Filter Base - Remove tube (B) from filter base (C) using strap wrench (T1).

- Inspect o-ring seal (2).
Note: If the seal is bad, discard o-ring seal (2).

Note: Before proceeding, ensure that the threads of cap (A) are free of debris, clean, and dry.

(4) Chamfer - Carefully apply a layer of multipurpose grease (T3) to chamfer (4) of cap (A).
Note: Do not get any grease on threads (3) because the grease will prevent the Loctite ® 263 Red Threadlocker from bonding.

(B) Tube - Apply a minimum of 8 drops of Loctite ® 263 Red Threadlocker (T4) to several locations on the threads of tube (B).

(C) Filter Base - Without tightening install tube (B) with cap (A) into filter base (C).
- Tighten cap (A) and tube (B) to filter base (C) to a torque of
339 N·m (250 lb ft) . - After 24 hours remove the housing from filter base (C).
- Install the 445-0939 Fuel Filter Element into the housing and install onto the engine.
