Engine Injector Trim File - Install

Usage:

299D3XHP AN9
The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) is used to load injector trim files into the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Replacing an Injector

An injector trim code must be loaded into the ECM if an injector is replaced.

Replacing the ECM

Prior to replacing an ECM, it is recommended to download a Product Status Report for documentation of the injector trim codes. After replacing the ECM, ensure the injector trim codes in the new ECM match the saved Product Status Report.

Exchanging Injectors

Exchanging injectors can help determine if a combustion problem is in the injector or in the cylinder.

  1. Record the injector trim code for each cylinder.

注: The injector serial number and the injector confirmation code are on the injector.

    1. Record the injector serial number and the injector confirmation code for each injector.

  2. Establish communication between Cat ET and the engine ECM. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tools", if necessary.

  3. Select the following menu options on Cat ET:

    • Service

    • Calibrations

    • Injector Code Calibration

  4. Select the appropriate cylinder.

  5. Click on the "Change" button.

  6. Enter the injector trim code.

  7. Click on the "OK" button.

The injector trim code is loaded into the ECM.

  8. Repeat the procedure for each cylinder, as required.

Registering New Fuel Injectors

Use the following Steps when an injector is moved to a different cylinder, or injectors are replaced.

  1. Go to SIS.

  2. Select “View More”.

  3. Select “Additional Service Information”.

  4. Select "C2.4, C3.3B and C3.8 Downloads".

  5. Select ECU “Trim Data Registration”.

  6. Input the 6 or 7-digit code engine serial number. Refer to “General Information” to locate the serial number.

  7. Click on the button to select the engine.

  8. Enter the new injector trim codes.

注: Following the above procedure will ensure that any future reflashing will flash the correct injector codes.
