NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Use Tool (A) and remove oil filter (1) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (2) . Remove bolt (4) and the washer. Disconnect the clip from the tube assembly. Remove bolt (8) , the washer and the spacer. Disconnect the clip from tube assembly (6) . Remove bolt (7) and the washer in order to disconnect tube assembly (5) and the washers. Remove engine oil filter base (3) , tube assemblies (5) and (6) and the gaskets.

  1. Remove tube assemblies (5) and (6) from engine oil filter base (3) .

  1. Remove the two O-ring seals from the top of the engine oil filter base, if necessary.

  1. Check the condition of the gaskets and the O-ring seals. If the gaskets or the seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
