Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

Start By:
a. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".

- Remove the drain plugs from the end cap, and store the plugs for reuse.
- Drain the oil into a suitable container, and recycle the oil.

- Discard the seals for the drain plugs.
- Clean the drain plugs in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
- Install new seals on the drain plugs.

- Install the drain plugs, and tighten the plugs to the proper torque.

- Remove the bolts for the end cap, and store the bolts for reuse.
- Remove the end cap from the filter housing, and store the end cap for reuse.

- Remove the filter elements, and properly discard the elements.

- Discard the seal for the end cap.
- Clean the end cap in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
- Install a new seal on the end cap.

- Install the new filter elements and the end cap.
- Install the bolts for the end cap, and tighten the bolts to the proper torque.

- Start the engine, and operate the engine at low idle for 5 minutes.
- Check for leaks, and make any necessary repairs.

Note: The oil level in the transmission is supplied by the torque converter sump.
- Check the oil level in the torque converter sump and, if necessary, add oil. For the proper procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Torque Converter Sump Oil Level - Check".
