Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
Machines or engines equipped with certain hardware versions of Product Link PL6 Pro radios may not report proper location, start/stop times, digital switch changes, error codes, or properly increment hours. The radio may not turn off after the 5 minute timeout period when the key switch is turned off putting an extra drain on the machine battery. Machine that has a radio that does not turn off and are not operated for an extended period may experience battery failure.
The affected modules are:
- PL631 revision level 06 ( 442-7199 Communication Radio Gp)
- PL641 revision level 10 ( 440-2104 Communication Radio Gp, 440-2105 Communication Radio Gp, 480-3534 Electronic Control Gp, 480-3535 Electronic Control Gp)

Illustration 2 | g06018853 |
To identify an affected radio look for the revision level on the radio as shown in Illustration 1 and Illustration 2 above.

If the radio is in a failed state, the radio indicator lamps will stay lit beyond the normal 5 minutes. Refer Illustration 3 below for the position of the radio indicator lamps.
Solution

Turning the machine disconnect switch to the OFF (0) position for 1 minute and then back to the ON (1) position will temporarily resolve the problem.
For machines with no disconnect switch, remove the 12-pin connector from the radio for 1 minute then plug the connector back into the 12-pin socket. Refer to Illustration 4. Alternative for machines with no disconnect switch is to remove the negative terminal from the machine battery for 1 minute and then reconnecting the negative terminal.
