When reporting the repair, use "PI32648" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI32648" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. |

PROBLEM
The oil pump needs to be replaced on certain C32 Marine Engines and Marine Generator Sets. The existing oil pump housing may fail which may cause low oil pressure or no oil pressure. |

Note: Inspect the date code of the replacement engine oil pump. If the date code is from 40501 through 50215, do not install the pump. Refer to Image1.1.1, and Image1.1.2. Review the safety actions in the Operation and Maintenance Manual. Caution: Ensure the engine is shut down and steps have been taken to prevent any attempt to start the engine while the oil pump is being replaced. Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. Step 1: If necessary drain engine oil. Refer to "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" in Operation and Maintenance Manual SEBU8775. Ensure to store the oil in containers for future use. Step 2: If necessary disconnect engine from transmission. Step 3: Remove engine oil pan. Refer to "engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install" in Dissemble and Assembly Manual UENR3257. Step 4: Inspect the date code of the engine oil pump that is currently installed. If the date code is from 40501 through 50215, go to Step 5. If the date code is not from 40501 through 50215, go to Step 7. Step 5: Remove oil pump. Refer to "Engine Oil Pump - Remove" in Disassembly and Assembly Manual UENR3257. Step 6: Install new oil pump following procedure "Engine Oil Pump - Install" in UENR3257. Note: The Foundry Code, Date Code, and Serial Number of both pumps, the pump being removed and the pump being installed, must be recorded to be included in the claim story.
