New Installation Procedure for Inlet Screen and Outlet Screen of the Electric Retarder Group for 795F Series AC Off-Highway Truck/Tractor{425R} Caterpillar

New Installation Procedure for Inlet Screen and Outlet Screen of the Electric Retarder Group for 795F Series AC Off-Highway Truck/Tractor{425R}

Usage:

795F AC ERM
Off-Highway Truck/Tractor:
795F Series AC (S/N: ERM151-160)

Introduction

The special instruction will guide the user with new installation procedure for electric retarder group screens. This new installation procedure provides guidance to replace the inlet screen and outlet screen for the electric retarder group with certain lifting strategy.

The new inlet screen and new outlet screen has two holes of 25.4 mm (1.00 inch) that are located closer to the top of the electric retarder group. The service technician needs to drill two holes of 19.05 mm (0.750 inch) in inlet screen side of the grid frame and two holes of 19.05 mm (0.750 inch) in outlet screen side of the grid frame. The location of the four holes is used to lift the electric retarder group with shorter chains without any damage to the electric retarder group.

The new installation procedure applies to the original electric retarder group installed on 795F Series AC (S/N: ERM151-160) trucks only. If the entire electric retarder group needs to be replaced, then the new electric retarder group will have these provisions in place.

Do not perform any procedure that is outlined in this publication until you understand the information that is contained in this document.
