Description of Change: Two new solenoid valve groups with improved coil assemblies are now available for the listed machines. One new valve group is for various machines that are equipped with transmissions with individual clutch modulation ICM. The other new valve group is for the Series E articulated trucks with the planetary transmissions. The new coil assemblies use an improved encapsulating material that provides increased resistance to cracking and the entry of moisture. This results in an extended service life and improved reliability.

Adaptable To: The new 302-3809 Solenoid Valve Gp is a direct replacement for the former 7X-1120 Solenoid Valve, the 107-8238 Solenoid Valve Gp and the 144-6292 Solenoid Valve Gp. Any Off-Highway Truck, Quarry Truck, Wheel Tractor or Wheel Tractor-Scraper with transmissions with individual clutch modulation ICM that uses the former solenoid valve group can be retrofitted with the new solenoid valve group. On Series E articulated trucks with planetary transmissions, the new 144-6293 Solenoid Valve Gp replaces the former 115-7881 Solenoid Valve Gp .

During installation, torque the new valve assembly to 50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft). Torque the nut that retains the coil to 9.0 ± 0.5 N·m (80 ± 4 lb in). Note that the nut that retains the coil is tightened only finger tight when the new valve group is shipped. Before you install the cartridge assembly on the transmission, you remove the coil. Charts that contain the parts breakdown of the new valve group and the former valve groups follow. The first row of the chart contains the part number for the valve group. The subsequent rows contain the part numbers of the components that make up the valve group that is listed in the first row.

Note: The former 107-8238 Solenoid Valve Gp can be upgraded by replacing the former 107-8612 Coil with the new 142-7324 Coil. No other parts are interchangeable between the other valve groups except for the 100-4083 Seal Kit that is common to all of the solenoid valve groups.The two new solenoid valve groups became effective in production with the following machines.
