Use a roller with a long handle to apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease to cross pattern (2). Apply the 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease inside the outer boom in order to ease assembly. Repeat for opposite side.

Note: Also, apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease to all surfaces of the boom that contact wear pads in order to ease assembly and operation for the machine.

Improved Bolted Joint Design

Affected machines

  • SLA1-943

Complete the following procedure in order to route 227-9416 Electric Cable (3) and 226-1084 Electric Cable (4) .

  1. Install the end with the cable terminal into the male end of chain assembly (2) for the electrical cable. Leave enough length between the male end of the chain assembly (2) and the connector at the chassis.

  1. Attach 3S-2093 Cable Straps (1) 10 mm (0.3937 inch) from the end of routing holes for chain assembly (2) .

Note: The electrical cables should have enough length for movement at the chassis.

Addition of Chamfer on Edges of Boom Sections

Illustration 4g01293008

Add chamfers to bottom edges (3) of boom sections in order to remove sharp edges. Add chamfers for the inner surface on the two-section machine and the section of the intermediate surface for three-section machines.
