Speedometer (1)

The speedometer indicates the travel speed of the machine.

Service Hour Meter (2)

Service Hour Meter - The service hour meter indicates the total operating hours of the engine. To determine the service hour maintenance interval, use the service hour meter.

Engine Coolant Temperature (3)

Engine Coolant Temperature - The engine coolant temperature gauge indicates the temperature of the coolant in the engine. If the temperature increases into the red zone, stop the machine immediately. Stop the engine and investigate the cause. Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.

Engine Oil Pressure (4)

Engine Oil Pressure - The engine oil pressure gauge indicates the pressure of the engine oil. If the needle falls into the red zone, immediately stop the machine and investigate the cause. Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.

Indicator for the Charging System (5)

Alternator - The alternator indicator light indicates a malfunction of the alternator. If this indicator light comes on, pull to a convenient stop and investigate the cause. Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.

Hydraulic Oil Temperature (6)

Hydraulic Oil Temperature - The hydraulic oil temperature gauge indicates the temperature of the transmission oil. If the needle falls into the red zone, immediately stop the machine and investigate the cause. Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.

Glow Plug Starting Aid (7)

The glow plug starting aid is used to assist starting the engine in cold weather. Startability will be improved at temperatures below 16 °C (61 °F) by the use of the glow plug starting aid.

Glow Plug Starting Aid - Push the switch forward in order to activate the glow plugs. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Starting" for further information.

Engine Start Switch (8)

Illustration 3g01051468

OFF (A) - In order to disconnect the electrical power to the engine and to the machine, turn the switch in a counterclockwise direction to the OFF position (A). Turn the switch to the OFF position before trying to restart the engine. Turn the switch to the OFF position in order to stop the engine.

ON (B) - In order to supply electrical power to the engine, turn the switch clockwise to the ON position (B). When the switch is released from the START position, the switch will return to the ON position.

START (C) - Turn the engine start switch to the START position (C) in order to crank the engine. Release the key as soon as the engine starts.

Throttle Control (9)

Throttle Control - The throttle control is a two-position switch. Use the switch in order to control the engine speed (rpm).

LOW - In order to decrease the engine speed to low speed, move the switch downward to the LOW position.

HIGH - In order to increase the engine speed to high speed, move the switch upward to the HIGH position.

Note: In order to start the vibratory system, the throttle control must be placed in the HIGH position.

Directional Turn Signal Control (10)

Move the lever to the rear in order to activate the right turn signal. Move the lever toward the front in order to activate the left turn signal. Use the turn signal in order to make a turn or change lanes.

Horn (11)

Horn - Push the horn button in order to sound the horn. Use the horn to alert personnel or signal personnel.

Propel Control Lever (12)

FORWARD - Push the propel control lever away from the operator in order to move the compactor forward. In order to cause the machine to move faster, push the lever farther.

NEUTRAL - Move the propel control lever to the center STOP position in order to stop the machine.

REVERSE - Pull the propel control lever toward the operator in order to move the machine in reverse. In order to cause the machine to move faster, pull the lever farther.

Note: If you release the propel control lever, the propel control lever will stay in the same position.

NOTICE

Come to a complete stop before changing direction of travel.

Propel Speed Range Control (13)

Propel Speed Range Control - The control allows the machine to operate in the HIGH range or the LOW range.

LOW - In order to place the machine in LOW range, move the propel speed range control forward. LOW range reduces the overall speed of the machine. This increases the operator control.

HIGH - In order to place the machine in HIGH range, move the propel speed range control rearward. HIGH range increases the speed of the machine. HIGH range is used to move the machine from one job site to another job site.

Note: Before you start up a slope or down a slope, LOW range is recommended for optimal performance and maximum control. Do not change the propel speed range control while you go downhill.

Parking Brake (14)

NOTICE

Do not engage the parking brake while the machine is moving unless an emergency exists.

The use of the parking brake as a service brake in regular operation causes severe damage to the parking brake system.

Note: If the parking brake is used in an emergency, perform a braking system test. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Braking System - Test" for instructions.

Parking Brake - In order to apply the parking brake, push the knob downward. In order to release the parking brake, pull the knob upward.

Note: In order to propel the machine, the propel lever must be in the NEUTRAL position before you release the parking brake.

Light Switches (17)

OFF - Turn the knob to the OFF position in order to turn off the lights.

Parking - Turn the knob to this position in order to turn on the parking lights.

Headlights - Turn the knob to this position in order to turn on the low beam headlights.

Working lights - Turn the knob to this position in order to turn on the working lights.

Water Spray Control (18)

NOTICE

Always check the water level in the water tanks before you use the water spray system.

Contaminated water in the water tanks can cause performance problems and reliability problems in the water spray system.

The spray system is activated by a three-position switch on the right console.

Move the switch forward for continuous spray.

Move the switch rearward for intermittent spray.

An adjustable intermittent spray is available. Two switches control the intermittent spray. Switch (15) controls the time when the water spray is off. The timer is adjustable from 0 to 100 seconds. Switch (16) controls the time when the water spray is on. The timer is adjustable from 0 to 100 seconds.

Move the switch to the center position in order to turn off the water spray system.

In case of freezing temperatures, drain the water tanks. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Water Spray System - Drain" for instructions.

Note: Do not start the water spray system without first opening the valve that is next to the water pump. Check the water level before operating the water pump.

Emulsion Spray Control (19)

Spray - Move the switchforward in order to activate the emulsion spray.

Stop - Release the switch in order to stop the emulsion spray.
