Fuel Rack Slots Have Improved Wear Resistance

Usage:

All 3408 And 3412 Engines

Description of Change: The method by which the fuel rack slots are hardened on 3408 and 3412 Engines has been improved. This will give better wear resistance in the areas where the fuel rack comes in contact with the 4N1572 Cross Link. The basic dimensions for the fuel rack slot and cross link are shown in Illustration 1. The maximum total wear between the fuel rack slot and cross link ball head must not exceed. We recommend that you also install new 9S4160 Bearings when any new fuel rack is installed. Use the procedure in the Service Manuals for 3408 and 3412 Engines. See Illustration 2.

Adaptable As: The new fuel racks are a direct replacement for the former fuel racks. Part numbers did not change. The chart which follows has parts usage information. A different tooth pattern can be used for identification of the new and former fuel racks. See Illustration 3.
