All Engines That Have Pistons With Rectangular Ring Grooves
The separate parts of the 5P3519 Piston Ring Groove Gauge Group are now available. These six gauges were formerly available only as a complete group.
The part numbers of the gauges and their thicknesses are shown in the chart. Later gauges have a scribe line on them. This scribe line can be added to earlier gauges. If the scribe line is visible during use of the gauge, the piston can be used again.
It is Caterpillar's recommendation that the piston ring groove gauges be checked for accuracy regularly with a second set of gauges, which can be kept as a master set.
