Reverse Flow Check Assembly Now Used In Fuel Injection Pump Assemblies

Usage:

3208 Industrial Engines

Description of Change: Reverse flow check assemblies are now used in the fuel injection pump assemblies on 3208 Industrial Engines which have Serial Numbers 90N37285-Up and the arrangement numbers which follow.

The use of the reverse flow check assembly prevents excessive (too much) injection of fuel into a cylinder if an injection nozzle assembly malfunctions (does not operate correctly). Injection of too much fuel into a cylinder can cause possible damage to the pistons, cylinder head, and cylinder block.

NOTE: A 6V2023 Flow Check Adapter Group is available to open the reverse flow check valve when checking injection timing through the use of the fuel flow method.

At the same time the reverse flow check assembly is used, a new governor and fuel pump drive group, which gives an 8° timing advance, is also used. This change in timing is necessary as compensation for the restriction in the fuel system caused by the reverse flow check assembly.

NOTICE

The 8° timing advance can be used only on engines equipped with reverse flow check assemblies.

Adaptable To: The reverse flow check assembly and 8° advance governor and fuel pump drive group, used together, are adaptable to earlier 3208 Industrial Engines which have Serial Numbers 90N1-Up and one of the arrangement numbers shown.
