Hoist and Brake Tank Oil Level - Check
Note: To access the sight gauges and the filler cap, the use of a portable access system (ladder, stair assembly, man lift, or other portable access system) that is suitable and compliant to local regulations may be necessary.
Check the oil level in the hoist/brake system with the dump body in the DOWN position. If the oil level must be checked with the dump body in the RAISED position, refer to "Dump Body RAISED".
If the system has been drained, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hoist and Brake Tank Oil - Change" for the proper filling procedure.
a. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".
- Open the access panel for the brake reservoir oil level gauge.

- Check the oil level in the brake reservoir sight gauge.
- If the oil level is in the upper red range, drain oil from the tank to lower the oil level to the green range.
- If the oil level is in the lower red range, add oil to the tank to raise the oil level to the green range.

- Check the oil level in the hoist reservoir sight gauge.
Note: The hoist reservoir and the brake reservoir are separated by a baffle. When the hoist/brake tank is filled, the brake reservoir will fill first. After the brake reservoir is at the proper level, the oil will flow into the hoist reservoir.
- If the oil level is in the upper red range, drain oil from the tank to lower the oil level to the green range.
- If the oil level is in the lower red range, add oil to the tank to raise the oil level to the green range.
