Removal Procedure

Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

1. If the machine is equipped with a cab, remove the four mounting bolts and the washers. Lift the cab and move the cab forward approximately 76 mm (3 inch). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Remove and Install".

2. Raise hood (1) and support with a suitable lifting device. The weight of hood (1) is approximately 105 kg (230 lb).

3. Remove screws (3) and screen (2) .

Personal injury can result from parts under pressure. Stored energy force will be released when struts are removed. Support covers, hoods, or other components prior to the removal or the installation of struts.

4. Disconnect strut (4) .

5. Repeat Steps 3 through 4 to other side of hood (1) .

6. Lower hood (1) using suitable lifting device.

7. Attach a suitable lifting device to hood (1). The weight of hood (1) is approximately 105 kg (230 lb).

8. Remove four bolts (5), the four washers, and hood (1) .

Installation Procedure

1. Install hood (1) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Tighten screws (3) to a torque of 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).

   2. Place the cab into position. Install the four mounting bolts and the washers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Remove and Install".
