A New Wiring Harness for the Space Heater Is Used {1408, 664E}

Usage:

3516B FDX
Engine:
3512B (S/N: ZAJ1-UP)
3516B (S/N: ZAP1-UP; PBR1-UP; FDX1-UP)
3516C (S/N: SBJ1-UP; SBK1-UP)

Description of Change: The new wiring harness has new terminals that are capable of operating at a higher temperature range. Also, the length of the wiring harness was increased. This allows the connection of the space heater's terminals to be pointed downward.

Adaptable To: The new 338-1563 Wiring Harness replaces the current 268-9732 Wiring Harness. The new part can be used back to the first production of the engine.

  1. Reinstall the space heater upside-down with the terminals in the six o'clock position. This will decrease the temperature at the space heater's lugs. Use the new harness in order to reach the lugs on the space heater that are pointed downward. The new terminals also have a higher temperature rating of 170° C (338° F).

  1. Install the wiring harness on the rear of the generator's bearing bracket. Route the harness from the top side of the generator's bearing bracket to the bottom side of the space heater. Leave enough slack in the harness so that the wires are not stressed. Refer to Illustration 1.

    Note: Use wire ties in order to attach the harness to the inboard side of the generator's rear bearing bracket.

  1. Use nuts and washers to connect the terminals to the space heater's lugs and tighten the terminals of the wiring harness to the heater. Make sure that there is sufficient space between the terminals in order to avoid a short in the harness. Refer to Illustration 2.
