Usage:
(12)Engine Crankcase Breather
- 1. Loosen the hose clamp (A) on the breather tube.
- 2. Loosen the breather containing clamp (B) and remove the breather.
- 3. Inspect the seal on the breather. Replace it if it is damaged.
- 4. Wash the breather in clean nonflammable solvent.
- 5. Shake the breather to remove excess solvent, and allow the breather to dry.
- 6. Install the clean breather and tighten the retaining clamp. Install the hose and tighted the hose clamp.
(13)Fuel Filters-Primary Filter
- 1. Stop the engine.
- 2. Shut off the fuel tank supply valve.
- 3. Loosen the nut (1) on the filter cover and lower the filter case (3).
- 4. Remove the element (2) and wash in clean nonflammable solvent.
- 5. Reinstall the element.
Final Fuel Filter
- 1. Unscrew and remove the filter.
- 2. Clean the gasket sealing surface on the filter base.
- 3. Lubricate the new filter gasket with clean diesel fuel.

Do not pour fuel into the new filter element before installing. Prime the system as instructed in the topic, "To Prime the Fuel System". |
- 4. Tighten the filter by hand until the gasket contacts the base, then tighten 1/2 to 3/4 turn more.
- 5. Turn the fuel supply valve on.
- 6. Start the engine and run at 1000 RPM for several minutes and check for leaks. If the engine fails to start, prime the fuel system. See the topic "To Prime the Fuel System".
To Prime the Fuel System
- 1. Be sure the fuel line valve is open and the engine shutoff control is off.
- 2. Unlock the fuel priming pump.
- 3. Operate the priming pump until resistance is felt.
Fuel and air vents through the return line to tank.
- 4. Lock the fuel priming pump.
If the engine continues to misfire or smoke, further bleeding is necessary. With the engine running, loosen the fuel line nuts, one at a time, several times in succession and allow the fuel to run until free of air bubbles. Tighten the fuel line nuts.
