Stopping the Engine
Usage:
Before stopping the engine, operate it at low load for 5 minutes, then at low idle for 30 seconds. (This procedure allows hot areas in the engine to cool gradually, extending the engine life.) To stop the engine, use the method listed that applies to the shut-off system on your truck:
- 1. Turn the key to the spring-loaded position and hold until the engine stops, then release the key, or
- 2. Pull out the manual shut-off control, or
- 3. Push in and hold the stop button until the engine stops, then release the button, or
- 4. Pull up on the accelerator.
Make sure the shutoff procedure is understood. Refer to the truck manufacturer's instructions for the shutoff system used.
