PROBLEM
The lift cylinders bores on the lift arms may be misaligned on certain 262D/272D/272D2 Skid Steer Loaders, 287D/297D/297D2 Multi Terrain Loaders, and 289D/299D/299D2 Compact Track Loaders. This can cause the pin assembly to gall during raise and lower cycles. A symptom of this issue would be high pitch noise arising from the frame area in the vicinity of lift cylinder. |

ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect the machine for the following details: 1. Ensure that the high pitch noise is coming from the lift cylinder pins. Refer to Image1. Noise may arise from one side or both of the lift cylinder. Another symptom of this failure mode is damage to the flag as it oscillates during the lift arms raise and lower cycles. Refer to Image2. 2. With lift arms on the stops, relieve the system pressure. Refer to UENR3730, Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release". Remove the flag bolt and pull the pin assembly about 100mm from the mounting frame, as shown. Check for galling on the pin surface. Refer to Image3. If galling is present, check if grease is flowing freely through the grease hole. If grease is flowing freely and no restriction is found, proceed with attached Rework Procedure. If grease flow is restricted, replace with new pin assembly and grease Zerk. Apply grease liberally and exercise the lift arm through 50 raise and lower cycles. Go to Step 2, to verify if galling is present. No rework is needed if galling is not present. If galling is observed, follow the attached Rework Procedure. |
