Oil Filter Base And Engine Oil Cooler

Usage:

Remove Oil Filter Base And Engine Oil Cooler

1. Remove the coolant from the cooling system.

2. Loosen clamps (1) and disconnect hoses (2) from engine oil cooler (4). Remove oil filters (5).

3. Remove two bolts (3) and two bolts from behind the oil cooler.

4. Remove oil filter base and engine oil cooler as a unit.

Install Oil Filter Base And Engine Oil Cooler

1. Inspect the O-ring seals in the oil filter base. Install new seals if needed. Put oil on the seals.

2. Put oil filter base and engine oil cooler in position on the engine. Install the four bolts that hold it in place.

3. Install two oil filters. Connect two hoses.

4. Fill the cooling system to the correct level.

Disassemble Oil Filter Base And Engine Oil Cooler

start by:

a) remove oil filter base and engine oil cooler

1. Remove the bolts that hold cover (1) to the base and then the cover.

2. Remove the three nuts (3) and remove the core from base (2).

3. Remove the cap and fitting (4), spring (5) and valve (6) from base (2).

4. Remove plug (7), spring (8) and valve (9) from base (2).

Assemble Oil Filter Base And Engine Oil Cooler

1. Put clean engine oil on valve (4) and spring (2). Install valve (4), spring (2), fitting (1) and the cap in base (3) as shown. Tighten fitting (1) to a torque of 19 ± 4 lb. ft. (25 ± 5 N·m). Tighten the cap to a torque of 15 ± 4 lb. ft. (20 ± 5 N·m).

2. Put clean engine oil on valve (5), spring (6) and the O-ring seal for plug (7). Install valve (5), spring (6), the O-ring seal and plug (7) in base (3) as shown.

3. Inspect the gasket that goes between base (3) and the cooler core. Install a new gasket if needed.

NOTE: The gasket must be installed with point (10) (indexing point) in the up position toward the front of the engine.

4. Put cooler core (8), the gasket and base (3) in position and install the nuts to hold the unit together. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 16 ± 2 lb. ft. (21 ± 3 N·m).

5. Inspect the gasket that goes between the cooler core and cover (9). Install a new gasket if needed.

6. Put the gasket and cover (9) in position and install the bolts.
