Flywheel Housing

Usage:

Remove Flywheel Housing

start by:

a) remove crankshaft rear seal and wear sleeve

b) remove electric starting motor

c) remove oil pan


TYPICAL EXAMPLE

1. Install tool (A) and fasten a hoist. Remove bolts (1) that hold the flywheel housing to the engine.

2. Remove flywheel housing (2) from the dowels in the cylinder block. The weight is 80 lb. (36 kg).

Install Flywheel Housing

1. Thoroughly clean the contact surfaces of the cylinder block and flywheel housing. Install a new gasket between the flywheel housing and cylinder block.


TYPICAL EXAMPLE

2. Install tool (A) on the flywheel housing as shown. Fasten a hoist and put flywheel housing (1) in position on the cylinder block.

3. Install the bolts that hold the flywheel housing to the cylinder block. Tighten bolts 1 through 9 in number sequence to a torque of 100 ± 10 lb.ft. (135 ± 14 N·m). Tighten bolts 10 through 19 in number sequence to a torque of 40 ± 5 lb.ft. (55 ± 7 N·m). Tighten bolts 1 through 9 again to a torque of 100 ± 10 lb.ft. (135 ± 14 N·m). Tighten bolts 10 through 19 again to a torque of 40 ± 5 lb.ft. (55 ± 7 N·m).

4. Cut flywheel housing gasket off even with the cylinder block surface.

end by:

a) install oil pan

b) install electric starting motor

c) install crankshaft rear seal and wear sleeve
