start by:

a) remove cylinder head assembly

1. Remove retaining ring (1) from lifter.

2. Remove lifter from cylinder head assembly.

NOTE: If old lifters are to be used again, put identification on lifters with respect to their location in cylinder head assembly.

Install Valve Lifters

1. Install lifter (1) in cylinder head assembly.

NOTE: If old lifter is being used again it must be installed in same position from which it was removed.

2. Install retaining ring on lifter.
