This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI31006" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31006" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The low pressure fuel lines need to be replaced on certain C32 Petroleum and EPG engines. The existing low pressure fuel lines can develop a leak due to cavitation inside the lines.

New low pressure fuel lines need to be installed on the products listed below. The existing low pressure fuel lines can develop a leak due to cavitation inside the lines.
You will not be charged for the service performed.

Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.

Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 17May2006 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure

Step 1. Ensure the engine is shut down and steps have been taken to prevent any attempt to start the engine while fuel lines are being updated.

Step 2. Loosen the fitting on the right side of the engine, connecting the tube assembly 235-4754, to the head, and allow fuel to drain from the tube assembly into an appropriate container.

Step 3. Loosen and remove the bolt, with the spacer and the P-Clips from the threaded hole. The bottom P-Clip (item 37) can be removed. Remove the P-clip from the bolt and hose and put it back on the hose but rotated 180? so the P points down. Remove the spacer and proceed to step 4.

Step 4. Place the P-clip (from step 3) and then the spacer back on the bolt as shown below and set this assembly on the threaded hole that it will go back into and continue to step 5.

Step 5. Loosen the fitting (shown below) on the right side of the engine, connecting the tube assembly 235-4754, to the T fitting mounted on the bracket in the middle of the engine, and remove the tube assembly.

Step 6. Install, but do not tighten, the 45? fitting of the new hose assembly, 291-6076, to the fitting on the head where the tube assembly was removed earlier (ensure this end is aligned so the hose is pointed up and toward the middle of the engine). Install, but do not tighten, the straight fitting of the new hose assembly, 291-6076, to the T fitting mounted on the bracket in the middle of the engine.

Step 7. Place the P-clip, 6D-4246, on the hose assembly installed in step 6 as shown below. Place the bolt through the P-clip and install the bolt into the threaded hole.

Step 8. Torque the fittings and fasteners in the order specified below to the torque shown.

Step 9. Loosen the fitting, shown below, on the left side of the engine, connecting the tube assembly 235-4754, to the head, and allow fuel to drain from the tube assembly into an appropriate container.

Step 10. Loosen and remove the bolt and P-Clip shown below.

Step 11. Loosen the fitting (shown below) on the left side of the engine, connecting the tube assembly 235-4754, to the T fitting mounted on the bracket in the middle of the engine, and remove the tube assembly.

Step 12. Install, but do not tighten, the 45? fitting of the new hose assembly, 291-6076, to the fitting on the head where the tube assembly was removed earlier (ensure this end is aligned so the hose is pointed up and toward the middle of the engine). Install, but do not tighten, the straight fitting of the new hose assembly, 291-6076, to the T fitting mounted on the bracket in the middle of the engine.
