Tightening Idler Retention Bolts May Require Torque-Turn Method{4159}

The higher torque required to tighten the idler retention bolts may require the torque-turn method. The torque required to tighten the idler bolts is 1125 ± 100 N·m (820 ± 75 lb ft) and may exceed the range of readily available torque wrenches. Therefore, it is acceptable to use the torque-turn method.
Tighten all the bolts in a criss-cross pattern to 540 N·m (400 lb ft). Then tighten the bolts an additional 30°.
This procedure is applicable to 3W5061 Axle Group, which was effective with 7YC970, and 8R6636 Axle Group, which is used on tractors with the reverse traction update and 1R0882 Wheel Group.
