Axle Shafts With Larger Diameter Threads Require 1U8848 Installer{0722,3259,3278,4056}

Usage:

785 Trucks

Reference: SENR4010, Power Train Disassembly And Assembly Module, Page 10, used in Service Manual SENR4000 for 785 Trucks.

Description of Change: The ends of the axle shafts in 785 Trucks contact a thrust plate that is bolted to the inside of the final drive cover. The ends of the shafts now have a larger diameter to give more contact area.

Adaptable To: The improved 6G6407 Shaft (Right Side) and improved 6G6408 Shaft (Left Side) can be installed directly in place of the former shafts. Part numbers did not change.

The thread diameter of the improved shafts is 2.5" instead of 2.0". Use the 1U8848 Installer to remove and install the improved shafts. Refer to the chart on Page 10 of the referenced module, and write in this additional part number for the larger shafts. (This installer is also for 789 Trucks.)
