  1. Clean the mounting surfaces of the exhaust manifold. If necessary, install studs (10) to the exhaust manifold. Tighten studs (10) to a torque of 18 N·m (160 lb in).

  2. Ensure that turbocharger (9) is clean and free from damage. Inspect turbocharger (9) for wear. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Turbocharger Inspect" for more information. If any part of turbocharger (9) is worn or damaged, the complete turbocharger (9) must be replaced.

  3. If necessary, test the wastegate actuator for correct operation. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Turbocharger Inspect". If the wastegate actuator is damaged or the wastegate actuator does not operate within the specified limits, the complete turbocharger must be replaced.

  4. Install turbocharger (9) and nuts (8). Tighten nuts (8) to a torque of 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

    Note: Ensure that the turbocharger is correctly oriented.

    Note: Support the turbocharger as the nuts are installed.

  5. Ensure that tube assembly (1) is clean, free from damage, and restriction. If necessary, replace the damaged component.

  6. Install the new gaskets, tube assembly (1), and bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 22 N·m (195 lb in).

  7. Lubricate the turbocharger bearings with clean engine oil through oil inlet port (X). Rotate the wheel of the compressor several times to lubricate the bearings.

  8. Apply Tooling (A) to new O-ring seals (7) and (6). Install O-ring seals (7) and (6) to tube assembly (5).

  9. Install tube assembly (5) to the cylinder block and position onto the turbocharger.

  10. Install bolt (3) finger tight. Ensure that tube assembly (5) is installed correctly into the cylinder block.

  11. Install banjo bolt (4) to tube assembly (5). Tighten banjo bolt (4) to a torque of 20 N·m (177 lb in).

  12. Tighten bolt (3) to a torque of 22 N·m (195 lb in).
