Change In Part Number Of Water Temperature Regulator Used In Attachment Oil Cooler Groups

Usage:

D398, D399 Industrial Engines

Description of Change: A different part number is now used for the water temperature regulator in attachment oil cooler groups for D398 and D399 Industrial Engines. The regulator specifications are not changed; but the former part number regulator was made by either of two different manufacturers (factories). While the specifications were the same, the two different products had different characteristics of operation, and tests showed that one regulator held a more even temperature in the oil cooler than the other. For this reason, a new part number is released for regulators made by a single manufacturer. This regulator will prevent stresses caused by temperature changes in the oil cooler, and will extend the service life of the oil cooler.

Adaptable As: The new 5N6242 Water Temperature Regulator is a direct replacement for the former 9S9160 Water Temperature Regulator in attachment 3N9189 and 3N9378 Engine Oil Cooler Groups (Sea Water). The former 9S9160 Water Temperature Regulator is still available for use in other applications.
