How To Adapt The 5P1759 Tachometer Drive Group (Dealer Tool) To D353 Engines Equipped With Electric Hour Meters When Engine RPM Must Be Checked

Usage:

The use of electric hour meters on D353 Engines has caused a service problem when engine RPM must be checked. With the electric hour meter, the service meter group is not used, and a cover is installed over the opening on the engine. Since the drive shaft for the service meter is used as a drive for the 5P1759 Tachometer Drive Group, the tachometer cannot be connected to check engine RPM.

To prevent this problem, the parts shown in the chart can be used with the 5P1759 Tachometer Drive Group as a service tool. These parts are components of the service meter group and can be used with the tachometer drive when needed. Use the parts only as a tool; do not install them permanently in the engine.

To check engine RPM, remove the cover from the opening on the engine and install the bearing and shaft with seals in place. Install the 5P1759 Tachometer Drive Group and connect the tachometer. After adjustments are made, remove all parts and install the cover again.
