Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the fluid end from the power end.
2. Remove the pony rod seal housings.

1. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to remove cover (2) . Refer to Table 2 for the approximate weight of cover (2) . Remove bolts (1) and cover (2) .

2. Remove bolts (3) and cover (4) .

3. Use Tooling (B) to support bearing housing (5) .

4. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to support connecting rod (7) . Remove nuts (6) .

5. Rotate pinion to move assembly towards the front of the power end. Move crosshead assembly (8) part way out of the bore. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to remove crosshead assembly (8) . Refer to Table 3 for the approximate weight of crosshead assembly (8) . Remove crosshead assembly (8) .

6. Repeat Step 2 through Step 5 for the remaining crosshead assemblies (8) .

Installation Procedure

1. Install crosshead assembly (8) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Tighten nuts (6) to a torque of 244 N·m (180 lb ft).

   Note: Replace the gaskets (not shown) for cover (2) and covers (4) . Use Tooling (F) to mount the gaskets on to the covers. Use Tooling (D) to align gaskets (not shown) to cover (2) and covers (4) .

   2. Apply Tooling (E) to bolts (1) and (3) . Install bolts (1) and (3) .

   3. Tighten bolts (1) and (3) to a torque of 26 N·m (228 lb in).
