Use the following procedure to tighten the cylinder head bolts:
- Tighten the bolt 1 through bolt 14 in a numerical sequence to 300 ± 15 N·m (220 ± 11 lb ft).
- Loosen the bolt 1 through the bolt 14 to 0 N·m (0 lb ft).
- Tighten the bolt 1 through bolt 14 in a numerical sequence to 130 ± 15 N·m (95 ± 11 lb ft).
- Again, tighten the bolt 1 through bolt 14 in a numerical sequence to 130 ± 15 N·m (95 ± 11 lb ft).
- Turn the bolt 1 through bolt 14 in a numerical sequence to an additional angle of 90 degrees (1/4 turn).
- Tighten bolt 15 through bolt 20 in a numerical sequence to 55 ± 7 N·m (41 ± 5 lb ft).
Note: Before assembly, lubricate the threads and the bearing surfaces of the bolt 15 through bolt 20 with 4C-5592 Anti-Seize Compound .
Note: Before assembly, apply 6V-6640 Sealant to the bore of six cup plugs.
(C) Installation depth of six cup plugs ... 1.25 ± 0.25 mm (0.049 ± 0.010 inch)
(D) Length for applying 4C-9506 Retaining Compound on the injector sleeve ... 4.0 mm (0.16 inch)
(1) Apply clean engine oil to 12 O-ring seals.
