Fuel Heater - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Cap all lines, all hoses, and all tubes and plug all lines, all hoses, and all tubes. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Engage the parking brake.

  1. Start the machine.

  1. Lower the bucket to the ground.

  1. Remove bolts (2) and lower grill (1). The weight of the lower grill is 23 kg (50 lb).

  1. Disconnect two fuel supply tubes (3). Disconnect two fuel return tubes (4) from fuel heater (5) .

  1. Remove bolts (6) and fuel heater (5) .

  1. Install fuel heater (5) and bolts (6) .

  1. Connect two fuel supply tubes (3). Connect two fuel return tubes (4) to fuel heater (5) .

  1. Install lower grill (1) and bolts (2). The weight of the lower grill is 23 kg (50 lb).

End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
