Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on bolt threads and tighten bolts in the Step sequence that follows:
1. Tighten bolts 1 thru 13 in number sequence to ... 100 lb. ft.(135 N·m)
2. Tighten bolts A thru H in letter sequence to ... 210 lb. ft.(284 N·m)
3. Again tighten bolts A thru H in letter sequence to ... 420 lb. ft.(565 N·m)
4. Again tighten bolts 1 thru 13 in number sequence to ... 200 lb. ft.(270 N·m)
5. Tighten bolts 14 thru 19 in number sequence (hand torque only) to ... 75 lb. ft.(100 N·m)
6. Again tighten bolts A thru H in letter sequence (hand torque only) to ... 420 lb. ft.(565 N·m)
7. Again tighten bolts 1 thru 13 in number sequence (hand torque only) to ... 200 lb. ft.(270 N·m)
(1) Torque for studs for water manifold ... 20 ± 5 lb. ft.(25 ± 7 N·m)
(2) Torque for studs for valve covers ... 75 ± 10 lb. ft.(100 ± 14 N·m)
(3) Distance from face of cylinder head to the end of valve guides ... 1.690 ± .020 in.(42.93 ± 0.51 mm)
(4) Torque for adapter (put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on threads) ... 150 ± 10 lb. ft.(203 ± 14 N·m)
(5) Torque for studs for exhaust manifold ... 75 ± 5 lb. ft.(102 ± 7 N·m)
(6) Thickness of cylinder head (new) ... 5.3775 ± .0025 in.(136.589 ± 0.064 mm)
NOTE: Spacer plate gasket must be replaced if cylinder head has been removed.
