The undercarriage frame and upper frame connecting 8T-0362 Bolts and the swing gear and bearing mounting 8T-0360 Bolts on the lower race, may become loose on certain 320D Excavators. If the problem is not detected early, the bolts and spacers may fall off. This could result in failure with significant repair cost.

Note: This Service Letter is an extension of the previous expired REBE9463, PI32147, Service Letter, "PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR INSPECTING THE BOLTS ON LOWER RACE SWING GEAR AND BEARING GROUP ON CERTAIN 320D EXCAVATORS".

1. Perform 455 N.m static inspection torque value in order to check the thirty seven undercarriage and upper frame connecting 8T-0362 Bolts for the listed affected machines. If any bolts are found loose or missing, replace with new bolts.

Prior to installation, apply a thin coat of 4C-5599 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the bolts. Install the spacers and bolts that secure the swing gear and bearing to the undercarriage frame assembly. Tighten the bolts to a specified torque of 568 +/- 59 N.m.

Note: Refer to RENR8614, Disassembly and Assembly, "320D Excavator Machine System - Upper Frame and Undercarriage Frame - Connect".

2. Perform 455 N.m static inspection torque value in order to check the forty 8T-0360 Bolts for the listed affected machines. If any bolts are found loose or missing, replace with new bolts.
