Recommended Transmission Configurations and Software Improves Machine Service Life on Certain 797 Off-Highway Trucks {7610, 7620}

Usage:

797 5YW
Off-Highway Truck/Tractor
797 (S/N: 5YW1-UP)
797B (S/N: JSM1-UP)
797F (S/N: LAJ1-UP; WSP1-UP)

Reference: Testing and Adjusting, KENR8394, Engagement Pressure for the Transmission Clutch - Calibrate

Reference: Testing and Adjusting, KENR8394, Fill Time for the Transmission Clutch - Calibrate

Recommended transmission configurations and software will improve the service life of the machines listed above.

NOTICE

The correct procedure is important and must be followed when installing a transmission into chassis. The correct sequence must be followed for the truck software to use the correct parameters for a specific transmission arrangement.

Follow the below sequence to install transmission:

  1. Flash the correct software for the installed transmission arrangement.

    NOTICE

The engine needs to be in the off position when changing/updating the transmission serial number prefix or damage may occur.

  2. Within ET, configure the transmission serial number for the correct arrangement installed (MNYxxx, JH5xxxx, R1Nxxxx).

Note: The transmission calibration required event will activate when changing the transmission serial number prefix, the calibration required event is expected behavior.

  4. Perform the transmission fill calibration as per Testing and Adjusting, KENR8394, Fill Time for the Transmission Clutch - Calibrate. Refer to Illustration 7 and Illustration 8.

NOTICE

Failure to follow this specific order sequence will cause the incorrect calibration values and software logic to be used for a given transmission arrangement. An incorrect sequence can lead to a premature transmission failure.
