SUBJECT: 3406 and 3456 Voltage Adjust Potentiometer May Be Incorrect
PROBLEM:
The range over which the generator output voltage can be adjusted is narrow and may be unacceptable to the operator.
SOLUTION:
- Inspect the Voltage Adjust potentiometer (VAR) in order to determine the resistance rating. The correct rating is 1K Ohm, as indicated in Illustration 1.
- If the installed potentiometer?s resistance rating is not 1K Ohm, remove the installed potentiometer and replace it with a new potentiometer (122-9458 Potentiometer).
- Use a 100-Watt soldering iron and rosin core solder to connect the wires to the 122-9458 Potentiometer.
- Check the generator set for proper operation.
